Sarah's first birthday is rapidly approaching. I can hardly believe it. I can't also help but reflect on where I was a year ago. If anyone told us that our daughter would be coming soon...we probably wouldn't believe them. If they told us to be prepared that she would be in the NICU...I probably would have socked them in the face and blame pregnancy hormones. But it happened.
It's funny. I think I thought of all the other things that could possibly happen during my pregnancy except for what actually happened.
But here we are almost one year later. With this feisty little creature.
Having her is a huge blessing in our lives. A reminder of how good God is. Seeing her smile and what He creates I think just puts us in awe when we see her. To think that God can use two people to create such a beautiful thing. Her smile is the most beautiful thing in the world.
Yet my heart still goes out to those who have had their child go to the NICU for different reasons than mine. Some that aren't as serious, some that are way more serious. I've had a few heartbreaking stories from friends or past friends. People have different stories...different struggles. And I remain humble and thankful for my little girl.
